Apetito provide nutritious meals for schools, care home and hospitals. They also have an ordering platform that is difficult to use.

Our approach

In order to understand user needs, we conducted several rounds of research before embarking on several design sprints to provide initial designs for an updated ordering platform.

We defined a methodology that used a number of heuristics spread across areas of page structure and behaviours, data display, performing tasks and visual language. We identified, documented and grouped usability issues within the My Apetito website and considered potential solutions.

By entering all our findings into an Airtable database, we were able to group and theme issues and possible recommendations we saw emerging out of this discovery phase.

To illustrate our recommendations and to provide the Product owner with something to bring the story to life when she presented to stakeholders, we created a number of illustrated story boards.
