Website design as part of a brand refresh

As part of a comprehensive brand refresh, I led the update of the website. In order to create a personalised experience, we wanted a site that served dynamic content based on a variety of parameters, that we could gather from a visitor to the site.

As a big advocate of the principles of Atomic Design, I created a suite of modules that would allow pages to be served in a wide variety of configurations.

We got client buy in by creating interactive prototypes in InVision. Along with a pattern library defining buttons, colours, typography, icons and imagery; I used the modular approach to create a ‘vocabulary’ for the website. Pages could then be designed and developed within the framework of the modules and pattern library.

This created a central reference for the project that allowed the team to design and iterate quickly as well as allowing developers to work on modules separately from the site as a whole. To aid the developers further, I pushed all the modules through InVision which allowed developers easy access to all the CSS they’d need to accurately work up each module.
